A group of us booked The Island as a surprise for my husbands 30th birthday around 9 months ago, and it’s safe to say after reading the reviews that we had high expectations. Our expectations were beyond exceeded. From start to finish, communication with our wonderful host Adele, was simply fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble, a host that truly wants her guests to have a memorable, relaxed and worry free experience. The house and ground speaks for itself. Extremely clean and well kept, kitted out with everything you need and more. Every single room was beautiful and full of character. The little touches were not wasted on us! A weekend we will remember forever. Quite literally a little slice of heaven and The Island will without a doubt have a special place in all of our hearts. ❤️
"What to expect on the island? I have no idea how you explain just how fabulous and unique the island is. So I would recommend you book it now and then read what I have written below! The views are stunning and it is such a tranquil place perfectly situated to watch the sun go down with a glass of wine. Waking up to the numerous lake and wildlife vistas was one of the best parts of the trip and my children sat in bed for nearly and hour looking at birds and the lake (very unusual!). Arriving and driving the boat across was an exciting and a much enjoyed adventure. It is worth remembering that you have to travel to and from the island in a boat and packing perhaps a little more carefully than we did! Adele was such a great host we had all sorts of food already there which was a lovely touch. She had also taken the time to organise a new travel cot and a baby monitor and bath bubbles for our one year old which was so very kind and helpful. The accommodation is clean, stylish and there are so many thoughtful touches. As we were staying with three boys under five, Adele made sure that they had plenty to play with and watch. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything you needed. The island itself is magical with beautiful trees full of interesting species of birds. We had great fun exploring with little fishing nets and also playing games on the lawn. I would of course advise that parents are thoughtful and supervise their children as you are on an island but there was no reason that other families with small children should be concerned about making the trip. So in short for the sheer novelty of staying on an island you should book this place. Everything else will be a much appreciated bonus"

We hired The Island for my 40th birthday and it was perfect! Before we arrived we had ordered a supermarket delivery direct to the venue which had been received and unpacked by their team. It was very special to start the weekend with a boat trip across the lake to the Island, and on arrival the chillers and fridges were stocked up with some cold refreshing beers. The location is stunning, all of the rooms are finished to a high standard, and the house was stocked with every item we would ever need. There was plenty for the children to do - games, pool table, table tennis, video games, and the hot tub was a huge hit. The Wonky Bar was a great addition, to sit and enjoy a beverage on the swing seat from a different aspect of the garden. The house is large and spacious, so despite 22 of us in total it never felt crowded, and it was nice to have the large bunk room for the children to share at the opposite end of the house. The Island is so peaceful, we woke to sounds of geese and ducks on the lake each morning and panoramic views. We will definitely be returning to enjoy another long weekend sometime soon
We had an absolutely lovely stay at Adele’s place. She’s a really lovely person and was so helpful. She advised us to use the Park’n’Ride to go into Oxford for the day and we couldn’t believe how easy it was: no waiting at all and incredibly cheap. The place is really well equipped to the point that we needn’t have taken as much as we did. I hadn’t driven a boat before but Adele was brilliant at explaining how to use it, and it quickly became a doddle. We would thoroughly recommend staying at Adele’s place.

Adele's place is the most unique Airbnb I have stayed in and I am really glad we did! It really is on an island, and it is so peaceful to stay there. Our main regret was that we were only staying for one night as it would have been great to stay on and relax on the island for a day. The house itself has everything you need in terms of amenities, a fantastic large sofa and a really lovely terrace for morning coffees and evening drinks. There is a BBQ which we didn't use. All in all, I cannot recommend highly enough - what other Airbnb do you get to drive a boat to your front door?

Unique and Amazing stay. What a great find this place was. As described you’re staying on your own private island in the middle of a lake. Amazing location with beautiful views across the lake. 15 minutes each way to the Cotswolds or Oxford, so great location. Highly recommend

If you’re considering staying here...book it! Adele is a fabulous host, and the accommodation should be award winning. Beautiful location, with varied wildlife and amazing sunsets. Very clean, modern and comfortable.

All I can say is a massive Thankyou to Adele for being an amazing host! The apartment is the most gorgeous place, surrounded by trees and water, you can expect a full view of the lake from every room in the house (except for the bathrooms). The windows showcase the gorgeous views of the lake that make you tranquil and relaxed. Adele showed us how to ride the boat across the lake, which is a very easy journey and really took amazing care of us. Showing us up to the apartment and making sure we knew how everything worked before saying goodbye, we settled in for the night in matching dressing gowns (that were provided!)! Cooking our dinner and looking out onto the lake watching a movie was the perfect way to destress and relax away from our exam stresses! Waking up with a view of the lake, this lake holds many special memories of me and my family when I was younger so it was a pleasure to stay in a place that beautifully showcased the lake in all its glory. Firstly, I would say this experience is like no other, and is defiantly worth a stay, but honestly Adele went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and the whole experience is lovely! We’re already looking at sorting our next date out and we can’t wait to stay again when exam season is over! Thankyou Adele! Xxxx

One of the best airbnb's I've stayed at. Exceptional host... Adele is great, the apartment is superb! Much better than it looks on the photos. The place is decorated with taste and high end features. spotlessly clean (with a very cool robohoover thing). All mod cons... plus all the little extras! Not just any old salt... Himalayan salt! cake! The grounds surrounding the apartments are stunning. I don't think the weather could have been any worse for us and it was still stunning. And then there is the fact it is on an island in a lake!!!! don't stress about the boat.. if I can drive it anyone can! And Adele gives you a concise but thorough training course. Don't wear heels... if its raining... there will be water in the boat, so bring spare shoes and socks. It really is all part of the fun. I have no negatives... no niggles... I would very much like to return here one day! We had an awesome evening

Wow. an amazing place to stay. Spoilt with views. A great space to relax in. Children friendly. And a chance to pretend your bond(James bond) sort off😊😉 driving the boat over to your island!! .we were always able to be in contact with the host, ready to answer any questions, friendly and helpfull. The extra touches in the house are lovley and make you feel you can start your holiday from the minute you arrive. We wanted to stay. Move in, definitely come back. Couldn't recommend it enough 😊 😉😊

Absolutely stunning place. Quite possibly the best air BNB we have ever stayed in. The island is unbelievable, the boat ride over is such a nice touch, and the apartment itself is sparkling clean with everything you need. This is a must do getaway, particularly as there is nothing else like it. We had such amazing weather so we spent our evenings outdoors on the patio.

What can we say... The Island truly is a little piece of heaven on Earth. We had an idea of what to expect but this was immediately surpassed as soon as we set foot on the boat that was to be our transport for the next few days of our stay. The place is idyllic! From the geese and ducks who fill the outside space, to the actual apartment with its gorgeous little touches and amazing outside space complete with furniture and a BBQ, you would be mad to not pay it a visit. None of us wanted to come home! The isolation of being on the Island is perfect for a mind and body reset from the business of normal life. We will definitely be coming again and hopefully for longer next time too.

Took our dogs who loved running around the island and were at home straight away. My favourite part was probably walking into any room and seeing the water. Lovely big windows to enjoy the views. We will be back to enjoy some time out again very soon

This place is one of those magical gems that you don't actually believe is going to be as good as it looks until you actually go there and spend a few nights. In fact it is now officially one of my favourite places in the UK :) and cannot wait to go back again with more friends. Right from the get go Adele was so friendly and helpful and super quick with any questions I had. The boat lesson was simple and fun and I felt totally comfortable with taking charge of the boat straight away. The apartment was a perfect fit for me and my friends, clean and sophisticated inside and the stunning scenery and the beauty of the lake really did make the stay magical for us. Adele is a great host, one of the best we've come across on Air b&b, she made us feel more than comfortable. The place is perfect for a short mini break or even a long break with a few or many. I highly recommend it and have made sure I've sent the details to all my friends and family too :))
